Have you ever thought about the all the different brands you’ve been seeing when you travel the world and recognising that actually some are very similar to the brands you see at home.
Me and my Infographic Designer pals at Data Label have been taking a look into brands going by different names in other countries all around the world! It’s interesting to see changes towards your normal go to brands you typically come across day to day and how they’re named differently in other countries. Below you’ll see some slight and some major changes towards logos and brand names.
.
Walkers Crisps

Walkers crisps holds 56% of the British crisps market. The Walkers site in Leicester is the largest crisp production plant in the world, producing over 11 million bags per day and using about 800 tons of potatoes.
.
Coco Pops

Coco pops is a breakfast cereal produced by Kellogg’s and was introduced in the United States in 1958. In 1998 Kellogg’s renamed the brand to ‘Choco Krispies’ in the UK. The cereal was renamed to ‘Cocoa Rice Krispies’ in 2003 in the United States, and in 2006 the name was changed back to the original ‘Cocoa Krispies’ after a single marketing scheme.
.
Wall’s Ice Cream

Wall’s ice cream was founded in 1786 by Richard Wall. The brand is globally known around the world with its famous heart logo but goes by 27 different names!
.
Burger King
Milky Way
.
Galaxy Chocolate
Snap, Crackle, Pop
.
Pocky
Kentucky Fried Chicken

So there you have it! Can you think of any other brands that you’ve seen it somewhere overseas before that it is very similar to our homeland? Do let us know in the comment below.

I’ve never thought about that before but the crisps ones are so similar!
Yes, it is very interesting isn’t it.
I find this fascinating. I’d love to know the reasoning behind the different choices of name. I can see why they don’t use Dove for Galaxy chocolate in the UK – I just think soap! It’s my favourite chocolate too 🙂
lol! Yes! That’s right. I would think the same. 🙂 x
It’s so funny how brand names change like that, I always wonder why it is. There’s an Irish cider called Bulmers but it’s Magners in the US & UK – for whatever reason that is! It’s wild how big some of these brands are that you feature, taking up so high percentages of the market.
Oh! I did not know that. I thought it was a different brand altogether. How interesting. I know right, you think you are supporting a small brand, but then they are actually own by a bigger brand. All a bit of market monopoly to me. & all a little bit complicated for me to understanding. lol! 😉
Oh I love stuff like this, it’s not widely known and so interesting! I didn’t know that about Dove! I love that my name is a brand of chocolate somewhere in the world!
lol! Oh yes! I just realised that was well. lol! 🙂 xx
I never noticed before, but there are so many similar ones.
I agree. I know Walkers and Lays in Thailand – when I go on holiday there.
I do sometimes wonder if they also change the taste slightly between countries to make them more appealing to the local palate. I know that a well known fizzy drink use to do that at one point. X
That’s interesting. I never thought of that. I know that McDonald’s keep the same brand but they change the taste / menu. Eg: In Thailand we have Samurai Burger! lol!
I love this! It’s always easy to spot when you’re abroad as the logos tend to be the same. I didn’t know that Galaxy was Dove, that would not work here at all. x
I didn’t know that either until now. & I can understand why it wouldn’t work here as well. lol! 🙂 x
