Continuing with our Bookstart Bear Club. I sat down with Ethan and did our little interview of the book that he had read, (or rather I have read it out loud to him). At the time of writing this review, my Ethan is 4 years old.

Book Interview Review #13:

The Smartest GIANT in Town by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler.

Book Interview Review #13: The Smartest GIANT in Town by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler.

  • What was the book about?

A Giant giving his clothes away.

  • What was your favourite part of the story? Why did you like it?

When he give the belt to the dog, because I like mud. Then he hop away and his trousers keep falling off!

  • Who is/are the main characters? Tell us something about them. What happens to them in the story?

The Giant meet different people: a tailor couple – the giant buy clothes from tailors; the giraffe – the giant gave the scarf to him because he was cold; the goat – he lost his sail in the big storm. Then he got a new strong sail from the strongest giant in town. Then he meet the mouse and mice – the fire came out of the window and they have to run outside because the cooking have burn down the house. The little mouse found lots of suitcases of clothes. Then they climb up into their new shoe house given from the smartest giant in town. Then the giant meet the fox – he was walking in the rain and he lost the tent. Then he got a new sleeping bag from the smartest giant in town, but it is his sock actually. Then there is a dog – he is trying to get across a deep muddy puddle. It was so deep that he fell down in it and he got stuck. Then there was a brand new path made form a belt from the giant.

  • What sort of book was it? Was it a picture book, a chapter book, a fantasy book?

Picture reading book

  • If there are pictures (illustrations), how did they help tell the story?

I like it when his trouser fell off. So he went to the shop but it was closed. Then he found his old clothes. And he got a crown for being kindest gaint in town for helping other people in town.

  • Did you like the book? Why? What was good about it?

Yes, because he was very kind.

  • What sort of people would like this book? Why?

Everyone

  • Rate of 5 stars ( 1=Not so good; 2=Not Bad; 3=Okay; 4=Better; 5:The Best! )

There you have it! Have you read a book with your little ones recently? Try these interview questions. It really is interesting and quite surprisingly fun to see how much they understood the book. I don’t see this as quizzes, I see this as a way of interacting with my kid. I hope this interview book review is a helpful guide.

As mentioned earlier, this is not a sponsor post, but contains affiliate links, which means I receive a very small amount of commission if you make a purchase using the link. It will also help me a lot with purchasing books for my little Ethan. All words and photos are of my own, (except all of the answers answered by Ethan, of course). Thank you.
