Christmas Festivity in Hitchin

Christmas Festivity in Hitchin

Yesterday, Saturday 19th December 2015, I just did not know what to do with the kids. Ethan usually has his Drama classes on Saturday mornings, but they are also on a Christmas break. Before, we all become board out of our minds, I decided to just take the kids into Town – just to feed the ducks.

As we approached into town I could see lots of white pointed marquees tops, I realised that the Farmers’ Market must be there today. I told Ethan that and he said “Yippee! I love markets!”  Great! I thought. I love his enthusiasm.

The first thing we did was wondered around tasting food, then we went a little overboard with buying the food back home – as per usual! Ethan tasted the Christmas Mince Pie for the very first time. He really like it! He actually really likes it! I was so surprised that he asked for more. So I bought one for him to eat there and then. Then of-course I did the unthinkable thing by telling him that I was surprised. He then stopped eating it. Oh… bum…

A few yards later, we stumbled upon a Brownie stall, and of-course Ethan had a dive into it! And so did I! It was one of those really soft, succulent, moist and a little gluey type of brownie. I could just have another anytime!

We were told by the Brownie lady that the Farmers’ market has actually been moved forward a week as next week is Christmas. Wow! Well – that was lucky of us. She also told us that there are also rides going on in the square – in the town centre. Well – we’ll have to check that out too! We can’t missed those now can we?! As a “Thank you” to the Brownie lady I would like to give her a shout out: if you fancy some brownies yourselves why not take a look at her brownie page here: The Browine Barn

Before, we head into the Town Square, we bought a gourmet hot dog (which as rather expensive £4 a hot dog – but really nice!) and went to the river side and ate the hot dog. We gave away our bread to the ducks.

When we arrived at the square, the first things we saw were the fairy lights that lit up this enormous carrousel. Instantly Evelyn wanted to get out of her buggy and go for a ride. I actually never been on a carrousel myself so this was a treat for me too! And I love it! Though – it was rather fast and I was getting a little dizzy, both Ethan and Evelyn loves their ride. Evelyn didn’t even want to get off!

The kids proceeded their hype to the bouncy giant slide – unfortunately Evelyn was a little too small as she could not climb up and has to be taken off it. Poor girl – she want to play so bad! As you can imagine – a screaming and kicking episode moment there.

Until she saw another rides next to it.

At the end of the day, Ethan said to me “This is one of the best day ever!”

Thank you Hitchin. You are such a beautiful town.

We also happened to went back on the night 22nd December and by chance I was able to capture a magnificent photo on my hTc phone, which I have posted on #MySundayPhoto: The Carousel post. Please take a moment to have a look. I hope you will like it and enjoyed reading this post too.

I have been to the Theatre yet – but I hope one day. Ethan was very lucky that the whole production play went to his school and performed there! He said they were amazing! I do love the farmer’s market. They are very authentic. Yes, both Ethan and Evelyn loved their day, expect for Evelyn was unable to go on the bouncy slide. Haha Thank you for popping by. x

They look so happy at the fairground, another great Christmas time activity. A shame that Evelyn couldn’t go on the slide, A hates not being able to do what his big brother can sometimes too. She’ll be up there this year though, I’m sure.
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

Awww Hitchin sounds so great. There’s lots to do. Those brownies sound delicious! I’m glad you managed to stumble across the market and then the fair. The best days are unplanned. It looks like Ethan and Evelyn had so much fun on the rides. Such a shame Evelyn was a bit small for one of them, but at least she’ll be able to play on it soon and you found something else for her to go on.Thank you so much for linking your adventures to #whatevertheweather. xx

    • 11/01/2016 / 1:08 pm

The brownies were the best! I know Evelyn was a little sad but soon got over it with the other ride. Thank you for hosting. xx
