Ideas to Get Your Kids Outdoors

Today kids are constantly looking at their mobile phones, tablets or gaming devices and it can be difficult to drag them away. Of course, there are some benefits to them using these devices when they play educational games or connect with their friends, but it is important that they don’t spend all of their time glued to their screens. The outdoors is a beautiful place and if really want to educate your children then they need to see new things and create memories. In this article, we are going to give you some ideas on how you can get your kids outdoors so keep reading if you’d like to find out more.

Start Gardening

Gardening can be fun and it most definitely not just for adults to do. Get your kids outdoors by starting a gardening club in your family. You could invest in some pots that they can decorate themselves and have them plant their own flowers. Make it their responsibility to look after their own plants and they’ll start to enjoy going outside to do this. You could also add some birdfeeders and have them watch out for which types of birds come into your garden.

Go Camping

Want to really take your kids away from their screens? Organise a family camping trip one weekend to get them out of the house and close to nature. If you really want to step it up a notch, you could organise some activities like canoeing or kayak fishing. Your kids will love getting out on the water and seeing what sort of fish that they can catch. Invest in Some Outdoor Games

Our final tip for you to get your kids outdoors is to invest in some outdoor games and fun activities that they can get up to in your garden. Things like jump ropes, footballs and chalk will all go down really well with your kids and they’ll love getting involved. If you really wanted to keep them entertained, you could create a competition or some races that would involve them using these things to get to the end of the course. You could even use the chalk to draw the lanes that they need to run in to really turn it into a sports day from home.

Final Thoughts

It can be a lot easier than you think to get your kids outdoors if you actually create something for them to do. If you can, make sure to plan a camping trip in the near future that will not only get them outdoors but will bring you closer as a family. When you’re there make it fun by doing some fun water sports and activities. Once you get your kids loving the outdoors, they’ll soon be willingly taking time away from their mobile phone and tablet screens.

  1. Yeay! Great ideas #ExplorerKids

    1. We have a giant by bubble set which is great fun outdoors and also a game called Kubb involving throwing wooden blocks to beat the opposing team. Both great for getting kids playing outdoors with friends.

Great ideas! I also find that taking some of their favorite toys outside helps too and of course we love to bring arts and science projects out too then once we’re out there they naturally wander off to do more. Pinned.
