Best Tips for You to Choose Outdoor Folding Chairs for Family Travel

Whether at the beach, campground or sidelines, your family always want something to sit somewhere outdoors when traveling. Here, we bring to you everything you need to know about getting the ideal outdoor folding chairs. When your family need a portable folding chair, things are not just as simple as finding a chair, grabbing it and going. Though this might work in some cases, it is important that you pick the right folding chair for an activity to ensure that it meets specific requirements.

Money Saving Tips For Family Travel

1. Where Are Your Family Travelling?

The first thing we consider in this regard is deciding on where your family wants to use the outdoor folding chair. It is advisable to buy multiple chairs for various activities. Sitting at a backyard, on sidelines or at picnic greatly varies from carrying a folding chair during camping, hiking or at the beach.

1). The Beach

Talking about the beach, a lower-style beach outdoor folding chair pretty much does the job as far as functionality is considered. Such a chair offers the benefit of being able to keep the toes touching the surf and even allows your legs to get wet with water. Beach folding chairs are generally made of aluminum and are rust-proof and lightweight. However, if you don’t prefer to sit low to the ground, you can opt for a regular camp-style chair. And the beach is likely to get hot so consider getting a mesh back chair. Such a folding chair would enable increased flow of air and help you stay cool. It is also easy to clean the chair off the beach sand before packing up. Other options for a beach include a ‘chairbella’ which attaches to regular chair and a canopy chair that shields the sunlight.

Folding chairs featuring integrated insulated pockets help keep the beverages and snacks cool even during high temperatures at the beach. We recommend getting a chair with enough storage pockets to be able to store tiny personal belongings in a secret spot when you go for a sport. Such pockets also prevent your gear from getting covered with sand. You also benefit from the convenience of easily folding the chairs into either a bag or a chair with handles making it a breeze transporting them.

2). The Pool

Those family who are searching for some convenience when lounging by the pool should consider a folding chair with a canopy over it and a built-in cup holder. There are chairs featuring built-in footrests and recliners as well. Another option for additional relaxation and comfort is zero gravity chairs.

3). Camping

An outdoor folding chair containing a lot of whistles and bells works great for camping where the gear is not carried too far. You should look for features like cup holders, umbrellas or canopies, storage pockets and others in a camping chair. Padded headrests can give you comfort after a tiring outdoor day while side tables make meal times comfortable. You can consider a rocking chair or oversized chair for better relaxation. However, it is important to note that though such features help a lot, they can hinder other activities.

Consider arm rests too. Regular old-fashioned chairs contain fabric arms which give no support while getting up. Today’s chairs come with hard arms which provide better support when you try to get in and out of the chair.

4). On the Sidelines

What about sitting on sidelines? This is when your family require an absolutely functional folding chair. If you are going to watch games during the day, you should consider a chair with built-in canopy to stay protected from sunlight. Some people even prefer director – style chairs which fold flat and fit nicely in the trunk of a car.

If you are attending events with family, you can consider sideline benches. They are generally a set of four to six seats which fold up to make a single bench. It is a compact alternative to carrying multiple chairs and comes really handy when outing with a big group of whole family. Bleacher cushions or stadium seats are perfect when you want to spend some hours in the stands supporting your favourite team or your own kids. They are popular for the padded cushions which give great comfort by acting as a much-needed layer between you and the hard seat.

5). Hiking or Hunting

Family Hiking and hunting would want to stay away from any additional weight in the pack even at the cost of those useful features. When you are hiking, you should consider a highly compact and portable model such as a packable or ultra-light chair. Regardless of the activity you undertake, it is important to pay attention to the weight and size of the folding chair. This is specifically vital when it comes to hiking.

2. Size and Weight

Your family may find that outdoor folding chairs look comparatively light. However, this may seem to be true only until you carry them to a short distance. As the distance increases, the weight and size of the chair start mattering to you. When you know that you will be carrying them while walking for a longer period of time, you should consider one of those with corded legs. Check out the folding chairs that collapse into lighter weight and more compact dimension.

Similarly, when your family go for hunting, hiking or camping, traveling on a long distance, you should get something highly compact such as a tripod stool. Though a tripod does not give you so much comfort, the relaxation you get from having a place to sit and rest while carrying the minimum possible weight is definitely worth it.

3. Weight Capacity

The weight limits of all the outdoor folding chairs are different from one another. Even those who look similar cannot hold the same weight. Hence, it is really necessary to check the weight limit of every model.

Certain kids or youth chairs are capable of holding anywhere between 150 pounds to as much as 225 pounds. Some of the adult chairs are designed to hold from 225 to up to 500 pounds of weight. Though you may find it sufficient when a chair holds more than 250 pounds of weight, you should consider the total weight if your kids are going to sit on your lap. If you require a chair for a large person, you should consider XL chair that not just holds additional weight but also offers extra space to give a lot of comfort to the person.

When you plan out your next family travel, it is advisable to consider the options available. You can choose from a plenty of options for outdoor folding chair, not just the features and style but also the material, weight and size. Consider the requirement, activity and comfort level and make the right decision. No matter what your family are planning, there is definitely an outdoor folding chair waiting for your family!

So much to consider. We have lightweight folding chairs for camping. I’d love some of the more relaxing moon chairs but like you say, not as practical for meals etc.
