Adventure Time! Vacations For The Family Beyond The Norm

If you could pick only one country to go where would it be? Britain, Italy, America? These are the usual places we’d all pick to go and spend a great family holiday, but if you really wanted to try and get a bit more adventure on your vacation, why don’t you give the Southern Hemisphere a go? If you really want to tick some things off your bucket list, the opportunities for adventure in the south of this planet far beats the north (though I’m sure New York, Milan, Paris, etc., are lovely!), here are some places to try for your next family vacation that will have you talking about them for years to come.

You, Me, And Fiji

As a place for kids of all ages, you can’t go far wrong with Fiji! Apart from the beautiful beaches and sun and swimming, you’ve got access to caves, jungles, waterfalls, and mangroves. And if you choose a family-friendly resort, friendly is the key word. You will have native Fijians want to talk and get them to join in many activities. For the adults, snorkeling is on the agenda, or if you don’t want to get in the ocean, just relax by the pool and soak up the sun.

Australia: The Land Down Under!

Great if you have older children, the opportunities for experiencing the vast landscapes and getting around the whole of the country means there are so many options for an adventurous family. You can go on Australia tours around many of the country’s prime cities, including Adelaide and Melbourne. But you can also catch some of the more rural places on the map, including the magnificent Uluru, home to Ayers Rock. Getting to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef or standing out and viewing the outback that seems to go on forever are just a couple of choices you have out of many adventures you and your family can go on.

“Ur” Gonna Love Uruguay

For a place full of sun, sea, and sheer joy, Uruguay must be top of the list. If you ever get to go, you need to see the Colonia Del Sacramento. It is the most popular tourist attraction in the country, and many people visit the place on day trips from Buenos Aires. This sleepy town is home to a multitude of tourist attractions, from the beautiful lighthouse to the Municipal Museum. And if you need to escape the heat, take a walk down the Plaza Mayor lined by sycamore trees.

Family vacations don’t have to be the typical Disney World or Spain efforts your mind automatically goes to, you can make it a bit more vibrant, energetic, or just a massive cultural experience for every member of your family to embrace. A lot of tourist attractions cater for kids, but a lot of the places you wouldn’t necessarily think of do too. So, get thinking and if you want to take a family vacation that’s beyond the norm, give one of these a go!

I would love to take my kids to Fiji – it’s been on my bucket list for years and just feels like a place I know we would have plenty of outdoor adventures. Also South Africa would be perfect for this list – I’m from there and is such big country and plenty of places off the beaten track

Some unusual ideas here. Fiji sounds particularly wonderful. #countrykids
