Our Stay At Premier Inn Maidstone Town Centre Hotel

At the beginning of July , we were invited to review Big Day Out Festival. You can read all about that here. Just to recap that we went with our friend with her little girl. We decided to stay over night even though it was only an one day event. It already took us two and half hour to get there by train, so we thought for the kids’ sanity and ours it would be a better choice to stay somewhere nearby after the event at the end of the day.

The booking was done over the internet and it was easy and simple. We decided to check-in into Premier Inn after we had enough of the fun at the event which was around 8pm-ish.

Once we parked the car – which was not full. We checked in with a staff in at the front desk. The staff was very friendly and efficient. There was a kid play room next to the check-in desk which helps immensely to smooth out the checking in process. Even though the kids running in and out so excitedly to tell us what they have found in the room. lol! Keys were given to our room and the staff took us there.

Our room was a good size family of 3 room. Extra beds were already made when we arrived. There was no waiting time which is a bonus. The room was tidy and clean. The kids loves bouncing themselves silly off the wall on them. Am I surprised that they somehow managed to plucked up some energy from somewhere??

Our room was adjacent to my friend’s room, which mean we can go to each other room if you wish to leave the door open. My kids and my friend’s kid decided to gang up and played Hid & Seek. Yes, its amazing to see how they think we can’t see them hiding underneath the duvet or behind the curtains. lol!

We all had a good bath. The bathroom was also tiny and clean. The water pressure was great for having a bath. Though there was no hose for the shower to detach itself from the wall – only fixed ones which made washing hair for the kids a little tricky. We had to use a cup instead because the kids wouldn’t lie back in the bath.

There was television and cable to watch if you fancied, and wi-fi access too. I think I’ve watched about two films in a row! No – I don’t watch that much tv at home. Yes, we do have one, but mostly the kids takes over them. lol!

Next morning, we had our breakfast at the Hotel Breakfast Bar. There were good cooked and fresh food provided. Kids were able to help themselves to the cereal they wanted at the breakfast bar. We spent a good long hour there just eating and chatting. There was no pressure for us to leave. The dinning area was spacious and people were coming in and out continuously. Food were being refilled all the time and everything does not run out as it seem. Let’s just say we had a good Standard English Breakfast.

Would we stay at Premier Inn Maidstone again?

Yes! The kids love it. They didn’t want to leave. They said – they want to sleep there all-the-time! lol! I can’t blame them myself. We all had a good experience there. Good bath, good night sleep and good breakfast before we leave to do more exploring of the town. It was great!

I like Premier Inn, I always chose them when I have to stay at an airport hotel. I like that their beds are so comfortable and their rooms soundproof. And the affordable price as well.

Premier Inn’s are very good value, I stayed in the one in Brighton once and was very impressed. I love those cereal dispensers. Sarah #ExplorerKids

My boys love staying in hotels – especially breakfast – the first time they were just like ‘we can eat anything?’ – they couldn’t believe it x #explorerkids

Looks like a perfectly comfortable stay; sometimes – especially with kids – that is all that really matters.

If you will forgive me for my long-windedness, I’d like to try to make a point here and I’m going to start by being honest: We have traditionally tried to avoid mid-to-cheaper chain hotels like this in favour of Youth Hostels. But we are at an awkward junction – at Youth Hostels you generally pay per person (as opposed to per room), and with the kids becoming older we no longer get any “free” stays, whilst the older ones sometimes pay full price (in Europe at least). So we are at – or have passed – the point now where staying in a Youth Hostel is actually quite significantly more expensive than staying in this sort of hotel, which is rather absurd.

My point is: these hotels can be great value for larger families (or, in your case, a bi-family group). #ExplorerKids

This is really interesting. I’ve never stayed in a Youth Hostel before, except once when I was on a Uni trip in Copenhagen – aloong time ago. But I think Youth Hostel makes total sense. I think I will have a go and staying at Youth Hostel too. It would be a nice change. I think it would be good for the kids too – to know there are different travelling options available out there and not just hotels. Thank you for commenting – really appreciate your thoughts. x

Great review! We love Premier Inns, I don’t think you can complain at all for the price of them and what you get. I always find them to be clean, comfortable and spacious, and the breakfasts are delicious! We always stay in them on our way down South, their mattresses are one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept on!
