#PointShoot: Children of Sri Lanka

#PointShoot: Sri Lanka Smiles

Facebook has prompted me of a Charity Cycle Challenge that I took part for International Childcare Trust in 2005. I know this is like more than ten years ago, but I still have very fresh and fond memories from it. This photo was taken at the hill top of a tea plantation. The rain was absolutely tipping it down and these children were the daughters and son of the tea picker ladies – two of them were walking without any shoes.

This is one of the photographs I took during my cycle challenge. The quality aren’t that great as I have lost the originals and I have just merely copy and paste the photos from Facebook and here they are above.

Thank you. This is one of my favourites too. I just love their clothes – the modern pink dress vs the traditional clothes with no shoes and a broken umbrella.

I’m glad you picked this photo to share. It’s so beautiful! Their faces are so moody I wonder what they were thinking… x #pointshoot

Thank you. This is one of my favourites too. I think they are very tired kids – walking in the heavy rain… x

Thank you for sharing this photo at #pointshoot I find it really interesting having an insight into another country. It’s saddening to see how poor the children are that some have no shoes.

I know. 🙁 But I guess… they are used to it. There wasn’t any shoe shops there otherwise I would have bought them both a pair.
