Last Sunday, I was summon by Obby to review a “Makeup & Skincare Masterclass”. I was so looking forward to this day. After I’ve been tormented by the rain at the Family Camping the weekend before, I was ready to have my pampering; my “Mummy Freedom Day”; “Mama’s Day Out”; “Childless Day”; or “A Little Me-time” – call it whatever you’d like to call it – I was ready for the fun to begin!
On the side note – I am also kind of petrified as I usually don’t wear any make-up at all. I had high expectation that they will give me enough tools and boost my confident for me to do my own make up for whatever occasion may be.

Makeup & Skincare Tips
On this post, I’d like to give you some beauty tips I have learnt taught by Juan.
1. Cleansing – No Baby Wipes to clean your face! They have alcohol in them and alcohol is not good for the skin. Use bottled mineral water from the sea. It is much better than tap water as it has lots of minerals and vitamins in them.
1.1 Clay – White Clay is much lighter than dark clay, therefore it is softer on your skin, and so it gives a better clean. Note: You need to clean this off thoroughly but be gentle, because this is the base of your make-up. If the base is not clean properly then you don’t have a good base – then you can’t do good make-up. Your skins will become flaky later because of the clay is flaking off.
2. Serum – Use Vitamin C Face serums are lightweight moisturisers. They penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin. Using a serum regularly can give your skin a firmer, smoother texture, make pores appear smaller and increase moisture levels.
3. Foundation – Matching up foundation colour with your skins tone – on your face or on your upper neck and NOT on the back of the hand. That will give you the wrong colour!! Your body has different pigment colour than your face. Use soft foam sponge – gently, softly dab and spread the foundation into your skin.
4. Concealer – Same as above – find the right colour on your face NOT on the back of the hand. Concealer is used to mask dark circles, age spots, large pores, and other small blemishes visible on the skin. It is similar to foundation, but thicker and used to hide different pigments by blending the imperfection into the surrounding skin tone.
5. Highlighting – Use Loose Translucent Powder – give a better finish than compact. Compact is better for travel. Use big powder brush and place two fingers on the tip of the brush – you dab the highlight into the area where you want to highlight: the cheekbones, nose and chin.
6. Conturing or Bronzer – Bronzer goes on after face makeup (foundation, concealer, and powder) but before blush. Use a brush with soft, short bristles so you can control the bronzer placement. Apply bronzer to the areas of the face the sun would naturally hit. Using very light strokes, first apply the bronzer to the top of the forehead, the cheekbones, and down along your jawline. Done correctly, your bronzer application will be in a “3” shape on either side of your face, starting in the middle.
6.1 . Blusher – Use Blusher for contouring with flat fan brush – heighten very lightly the cheekbones, nose and chin.
7. Eye Contouring –
7.1 Eyebrows – Sisters not Twins! Use the pen brush to brush out the eye brows, and draw the diagonal pen to follow the hair not draw a curve.
7.2 Eyeliners – Some people like it dark, some people like it light. “You are your own Make up Artist.”
7.3 Eyeshadow – Draw with soft pencil over the eyelid. If you made a mistake then just use the tip of a pointed cotton bud to rub it off.
8. Lips – draw the lip liner around the lips – follow the curve, don’t go over it. Fill it with lip balm. Coat the final touches with lip gloss.
& here’s me at the end of the session:

Wow! This is actually awesome. #FabFridayPosts
It was great! I’ve learnt a lot. Makeup used to confused me all the time. lol!
It turned out great!!
I used to wear makeup everyday, but now I take a couple of days off!! It certainly can add a little sophistication to most of us, but it’s nice to let our real beauty show through too!!
XOXO

I absolutely agree! Sometimes, I feels nice to wear make up. x
That sound super fun. Like you I’m not much for makeup – all the foundation, concealer, contouring etc. seems overwhelming! I’m good with some eye makeup and a lip gloss!

I know what you mean. There are soo many steps and so many things to remember. And “You are your own Artist” after all.
You both look fantastic – I have had professional make-up done 3 times before and I’m always amazed what tips and tricks they use. Sarah #FabFridayPost
Thank you very much Sarah. Wow! Lucky you! I always wanted one, but never had a chance to learn. I do find it a little overwhelming, but after this session I am a little at ease.
you look stunning, but you are stunning always. I have always thought it would be great to get expert tips and advice. #FabFridayPost
Aww.. Thank you so much Mac. You are too kind. This is first time ever! I can’t believe it took me 40 years to have the courage to ask for make-up help! lol! x
I have always wanted to attend a makeup masterclass. Thank you for sharing the tips that you have learned in class.
Most welcome! I hope it is useful. x
I LOVE attending classes like this, for me its the ultimate in mammy treat. Great post, loads of detail on what your learned. Looking forward to putting some of these into practice. Since I have had the kids im so bad making me time but as they are getting older im certainly making more of an effort. #fabfridaypost
Yes! It was definitely a mammy treat day for me. I know what you mean. It is soo hard to find that a “me time” when you have kids isn’t it. I hope it is useful, and that you’ll find a little “me time” soon. I’d love to here all about it. xx
You look absolutely fantastic, well rested, and pampered! What a fun day for you! My Mrs., she started selling some very well rated skin care products called that are healthier options for skin care. Me and my girls, we get to be the testers! What fun… On any given night, all four of us can be wearing a different skin mask! I’m glad you had fun and learned a lot! #FabFridayPost
Thank you Lisa. Oh! That sounds wonderful to be a tester. What a wonderful way to spend quality time with the girls and get pamper at the same time. Let me know some tips! 🙂 xx
I can probably count on one hand the number of times I wear make-up in a year but every time I do I think I could probably do with a masterclass as I still do it the same way I did when I was at Uni!
#FabFridayPost
Well… Alana… it only took me at the age of 40yrs to have the courage to take one! lol! xx
This sounds like a great class. Also, I love that you were taught about skincare as well as makeup.
It’s great isn’t it. I would never have of thought about finding the matching colour of the foundation they way they have suggested, but it makes total sense.
Sounds like a fab class and I learnt some stuff I didn’t know ☺
I know! It was great. I have learnt loads! 🙂
ooh great tips – I especially like the one about not testing foundation on the back of your hand, this makes so much sense and is totally obvious now I’ve read it! Also, I hate face wipes and try to avoid them at all costs!
Yes! Me too! I never knew that before either. Face wipe totally gives me spots from hell! lol! xx
Great tops, I think this idea will be very effective. thanks for sharing. If anyone wants to more about you can visit Here
