On Wednesday, both kids have broken up for their Christmas holiday. I am still in disbelief that this weekend is actually Christmas! Where has the time gone!
So we have just only two days of shopping left to get everything done, as we will be spending Saturday with friends.
Yesterday, the kids were up so early – why… when they don’t have school – yet when it is school time I have to literary drag them out of bed!
We set off around 10 am, I didn’t really have any plans to what we were getting. I just needed to collect a parcel at the post office and a mixing bowl (only 50p!) and buy some rolling pins from Wilko as it seem to have mysteriously disappeared into the back of cupboard somewhere whenever you needed it! The kids wanted to make gingerbread house – how can I not make the magic happens at this time of the year?!
They also enjoyed picking each other presents without letting one another know what they were giving each other too. Evelyn got Ethan a Wilko Blox pterodactyl. Ethan got Evelyn an Unicorn. Both E&E got their Daddy a box of Lynx Gift Set for only £2.50! Not bad indeed.
I remembered vaguely last year we also strolled along Hitchin Town in search to find something for the kids to do as well as doing the last minutes shopping thing. We stumbled into the Hitchin Markets and Ethan was in his zone with his hyper jumpathon in the Giant Snow Globe.
This year, it was pretty much a resemblance to last year. He was in his element and I could honestly leave him there all day if i really wanted to, except Evelyn was getting a little hungry and wanted to see Santa – to get a present of-course. She has now learnt not to be so terrify of the Big Man as he is the present giver afterall.
Evelyn was not so keen on the Giant Snow Globe, so she made an early exit and has her face paint. She of course wanted Mini Mouse. And so she shall have. We left Ethan inside bouncy off the wall – killing the Giant Snowman whilst we went to buy lunch. We then came back and Ethan also wanted a face paint and guess what – surprised, surprised – a dinosaur of course!
We had a quick bite at opposite St.Mary’s Church. It was a lovely lunch, we sat on the step under the sunshine – even though it was still rather cold – the hot food seem to have warm us up a little. Apology there – no photos – as we were too hungry at the time and have forgotten to take any! The food from the market was really cheap at £4.50, we had a bag of 5 small spring rolls and a tub of noodles with two types of stir-fried chicken. It was a great price and the kids loves it.
On the way to visit Santa. Ethan noticed these little reindeers on sale 2 for £5! And guessed which ones the kids chose? The one with the sweets on of course! But they are really cute though, I could not resist it myself!
On the arrival of Santa’s hut, (Evelyn’s called it Santa’s house), Evelyn hesitated to speak to the elves, but Ethan was really chirpy and also dances with the elves too!
Once we were inside, Satan was really friendly to the kids and eventually managed to Hi-5 Evelyn too! (After he gave Evelyn her present of-course! lol!)
I say it was not such a bad day at all. All these activities: the Giant Snow Globe, the face paint, the Santa visit and free presents included altogether was only £2.50 for each kid! What a Bargain!
Thank you Hitchin, once again you have not disappoint our little Christmas Festivity visit. And here are more lovely photos – just because…
